Prevention

Routine examination to diagnose caries, diseases of the periodontium and oral cavities. Of course we use the latest technology such as magnifying glasses, special laser optics (Diagnocam), 3D-Dentascan and digital radiology.

Tooth decay is caused by bacteria, especially Streptococcus mutans. If these bacteria are absent, caries cannot develop. By applying a special coating, we can reduce S. mutans in such a way that these bacteria can no longer cause new tooth decay.

Sit back and relax: We offer professional dental cleaning by our qualified dental hygienists. This is wellness for your teeth – in half an hour you will feel like new.

Every person has different teeth – you can’t always get along with a toothbrush “off the peg”. We offer you specially designed brushes with which you can clean every corner of your mouth. Whether electric or manual, you will enjoy the clean feeling.

Did you know that toothpaste is as important as brushing itself? Our care products were specially created to fight caries and periodontitis; this has been confirmed over and over again in numerous scientific studies. We will be happy to advise you personally which product is suitable for you.

Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry

Our spectrum ranges from micro-invasive composite filling techniques to root canal treatments with Hi-Tec equipment from Germany and Switzerland to metal-free, all-ceramic restorations such as veneers, inlays, crowns and bridges. We try to preserve your teeth!

By placing a ceramic shell on the tooth, we are able to change the shape and colour of an incisor without having to grind down the tooth. With veneers you simply reduce the outside surface a bit. After such a “change of scenery” the teeth look like new.

Many patients complain of headaches and other complaints associated with amalgam. Others just bother the black surfaces in their mouths. We offer you an amalgam restoration with several alternatives: composite fillings, ceramic inlays and ceramic crowns and bridges. We will be happy to advise you on the various possibilities.

Allergies are on everyone’s lips – in the truest sense of the word. Many patients react sensitively to metal alloys in their mouth. We would be happy to test it out with you (kinesiological test – painless and quick).

Ceramic is the most biocompatible material. In addition to the well-known ceramic inlays, we can also offer you crowns and bridges made purely of ceramic. The zirconium oxide ceramic used is so hard that it can hardly break. The ceramic framework is also translucent and offers unbeatable aesthetic advantages, especially when crowning the incisors: In contrast to ceramic veneered metal crowns, light can shine through (translucency), which comes very close to the optical properties of a tooth. In addition, the gingival margin is not darkened by metal framework.

Implantology

Missing teeth can generally be replaced by implants, provided there is sufficient bone to anchor them. Dr. med. dent. M. Hahn has placed several thousand implants in 25 years! Put your trust in this know-how!

State-of-the-art technology, such as the 3D computer navigated implanting device, X-Guide, imported from the USA and practiced for the first time on the Costa Blanca, combined with first-class products from renowned manufacturers in Switzerland and Germany, will soon make you bite hard again!

Implants are artificial tooth roots usually made of the highly stable and well-tolerated metal titanium. Now we also can offer ceramic implants (Nobel Pearl), which allow a complete metal-free restoration ! They are inserted into the jawbone, integrate firmly within a few weeks and then serve as a stable fixtures for crowns, bridges or dentures. Implants are suitable for all types of tooth loss.

What makes dental implants so special?
  • They feel almost like your own teeth in your mouth.
  • Implants generally appear more natural than conventional bridges or prostheses.
  • It is not necessary to attach it to other teeth. This will spare your teeth.
  • Like the natural tooth roots, implants exert pressure on the jawbone. This prevents bone degradation, which inevitably occurs in bridges and prostheses over the years.
  • In contrast to conventional full prostheses, implant-supported solutions offer a secure grip.

In the demanding field of implantology, training and experience are important prerequisites for being able to treat patients at a high quality level and the current state of knowledge. Dr. Hahn has placed several thousand implants in more than 25 years and regularly attends training courses.

In case of bone resorption, there may not be enough jaw bone for the firm hold of implants. In this case, modern bone-building techniques are available today. This usually provides the necessary conditions for successful implant treatment.

We carry out the following bone-building methods:
  • Sinus lift (external or internal): required when there is lack of bone in the upper arch
  • Bone-spreading: if the jawbone is too narrow, it can be widened by bone spreading means.

In general, implants can last a lifetime. The prerequisite for this is good own dental care in combination with regular professional implant cleaning appointments.  This includes careful inspections and the intensive removal of oral plaque and cal. You will also receive detailed instructions for your home implant care.

Surgery

There are some interventions that go beyond filling simple cavities, but unfortunately may be necessary.

The simple pulling of teeth is probably still known to most: After a small anesthesia, the gum is first carefully detached from the tooth. The tooth is then loosened in its bone compartment and pulled out.

Mostly wisdom teeth, which are still covered by a thin bone layer and thus are unable to break through properly.

The famous “thick jaw” – often caused by an infected tooth nerve or a deep pocket can lead to a purulent infection. Due to the proximity to the brain and neck tissue with potentially life-threatening consequences! Therefore, one should not take a thick cheek lightly. An abscess in the head area must always be opened so that pus can drain off. In addition, of course, the cause must also be removed, which can sometimes include the tooth.

Sometimes the anatomy of the root tip can thwart the success of root canal treatment. Often there is a so-called delta – a fanning of the root canal, which is difficult to clean. By doing an apical root resection, this part of the root is simply cut off: First, an access to the bone is created and the tip of the root is opened. The bone above the root tip is removed and the root tip is shortened by 1-2 mm. This removes the critical areas of the root and enables successful root canal treatment. If necessary, the bone defects can be filled with replacement materials (e.g. Bio-Oss®) to promote regeneration.

Root tip resection is the last option to save a tooth. Apart from extraction, there is no other alternative.

With more advanced periodontitis, a closed cure (see also tooth maintenance) is often no longer sufficient: Calcified bacterial coverings (concrements) have accumulated on the root surface, which trigger an inflammatory reaction. The attracted inflammatory cells attack not only the bacteria with their secreted substances, but also bone and tooth attachment fibres. Therefore, the trigger – the bacterial coverings – must be removed:

For this purpose, the gums are folded down (flap surgery) in order to remove all infested areas of the tooth root under visibility. The tooth roots are scraped and then smoothened. Through a special suture, the gums are re-arranged tightly.

If necessary, the bone defects can be filled with bone-grafting materials (e.g. Bio-Oss®). Or a connective tissue graft is used to cover exposed tooth necks in the anterior area.

Tissue loss, both gum and bone, is severe.  If there is not enough left, it can be built up within the framework of periodontal therapy and implantology. Grafts from other areas of the oral cavity or augmentation materials (e.g. Bio-Oss®) are used, which are usually introduced using membranes (e.g. Bio-Gide). In the anterior area, jaw bone defects can also be built up with soft tissue grafts, which results in a good cosmetic effect.

Dental Laboratory

As a special plus point, we would like to emphasize that our dental clinic is equipped with its own large and modern dental laboratory. Repairs and relinings of dentures can usually be done on the same day. Our ceramics specialist puts an irresistible smile on your face!

Especially in the visible area, crowns coated with porcelain are an aesthetically convincing solution.

The advantageous solution

  • Economically and cosmetically satisfying solution
  • Porcelain coating = mucosa-friendly, abrasion-resistant
  • With individual layering hardly distinguishable from the real teeth
  • Decades of very good experience in durability and aesthetics
  • Metal framework in gold or non-gold alloy

The aesthetically perfect solution is the full-ceramic crown without disturbing metal edges. Indistinguishable from the natural tooth.

The optimal solution

  • Meets the highest aesthetic requirements
  • Very good biocompatibility
  • Composite bonding adhesives
  • Almost universally applicable
  • Made of durable zirconia

By adding a porcelain shell to the tooth, we are able to change the shape and color without having to grind the tooth sharply. We just have to roughen the outside surface slightly. After such a “change of wallpaper” the teeth look like new.

Durable fillings made of corrosion-resistant bioalloys. Very good tolerability. Gold or gold reduced alloys.

Assessment:

  • Good biocompatibility
  • Years of positive experience
  • Reduced aesthetics
  • Hardly any accumulation of plaque
  • Highest wear resistance and permanently good edge closure
  • Jaw joint-friendly

High-quality ceramic fillings are the cosmetically perfect solution.

Assessment:

  • Optimal aesthetics
  • Very good biocompatibility
  • Relatively time-consuming bonding procedure
  • Galvanic neutral
  • Hardly any accumulation of plaque
  • Good wear resistance

The metal framework is partially or fully covered by porcelain.

An aesthetically high-quality solution

  • Aesthetically satisfying– almost no metal visible
  • Individualized, almost indistinguishable from a real tooth
  • Highly recommended solution, especially for a large span
  • Proven solution for decades
  • Easy cementation by the dentist
  • High-quality solution for gaps
  • Very good biocompatibility
  • Superior aesthetics
  • Almost universally applicable
  • Composite bonding adhesives

If more than five teeth next to one another need to be replaced, this denture with steel clamps is a proven and safe dental solution. However, they are often  visible and are  therefore perceived as unaesthetic and disturbing.

The cheapest solution

  • Steel clamps secure the seat of the denture only insufficiently
  • Aesthetically unsatisfactory
  • Stability insufficient
  • Cheap solution
  • Easy to repair and to extend
  • Teeth will show wear due to the clamps
  • Often perceived as disturbing: Covered palate with metal or acrylic plate

The partial denture is anchored by so-called sliding attachments, which are not visible and are fitted to bridges.  Aesthetically high-quality dentures.

A comfortable solution with a combination of a fixed bridge and a removable denture.

  • Very good aesthetics due to crowns and bridge technology using porcelain
  • Good cleaning of the removable part of the denture
  • Connection by a fine-mechanical holding and support element
  • Very slender
  • Very good wearing comfort
  • Very easy to individualize
  • Favorable load and stabilization of the remaining teeth
  • A small part of the upper jaw, palate,  can be covered
